For the 2011-12 academic year, Georgia Gwinnett College was ranked 70th among regional southern colleges and universities by U.S. News & World Report. GGC has full accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The college has been fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges since June 25, 2009. In addition, the School of Education is completely accredited by Georgia Professional Standards for teachers education.

The college is classified as a Baccalaureate college by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. GGC offers 40 majors and confers Bachelor's degrees from its and four schools. The college offers degree programs in Information Technology, Business, Biology, Biochemistry, Psychology, English, History, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Education, Special Education, Math and Exercise Science. Majors in fields such as Biology, English, History, Political Science and Math include teacher certification tracks for students interested in teaching at the secondary level.
