Freed Of London
Freed of London Ltd is a specialist manufacturer of dance shoes and apparel, founded in London, England in 1929 by the shoe maker Frederick Freed. The company is most noted for the manufacture of pointe shoes, a dance shoe most commonly associated with classical ballet. Usually referred to simply as Freed, the company is now the leading distributor of pointe shoes in the world and supplies shoes for almost all the leading ballet schools and companies. The company is also noted for being one of the few pointe shoe manufacturers still supplying predominantly handmade products.
In addition to pointe shoes, the company also makes a variety of other dance products, including soft ballet shoes, jazz shoes, tap shoes and ballroom shoes, leotards, tights, socks, knitwear, dance belts and practice or warmup attire. Freed are the official manufacturer of uniform for the Royal Academy of Dance, the world's largest dance teaching organisation, and are the official suppliers of pointe shoes to the Royal Ballet School in London, as well as numerous other professional ballet schools worldwide.
