Eve Myles - Early Life and Training

Early Life and Training

Eve Myles was born on 8 July 1978, at Ystradgynlais, south west Powys. She attended Ysgol Maes Y Dderwen, where she was in the same class as fellow actor Richard Corgan, and the year below Steve Meo. She grew up with a strong interest in boxing, although she gave up the sport after breaking her knuckle by punching a wet sand bag. After training as an actress and gaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in acting at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff in 2000, Myles moved to London.

Famous quotes containing the words early, life and/or training:

For with this desire of physical beauty mingled itself early the fear of death—the fear of death intensified by the desire of beauty.
Walter Pater 1839–1894, British writer, educator. originally published in Macmillan’s Magazine (Aug. 1878)

You realize the futility of worry. You learn to hate the small and the little. Life is a pie which you cut in large slices, not grudgingly, not sparingly. You know your limitations and proceed to eliminate them; your abilities, and proceed to develop them. You are free.
    Alice Foote MacDougall (1867–1945)

I’m not suggesting that all men are beautiful, vulnerable boys, but we all started out that way. What happened to us? How did we become monsters of feminist nightmares? The answer, of course, is that we underwent a careful and deliberate process of gender training, sometimes brutal, always dehumanizing, cutting away large chunks of ourselves. Little girls went through something similarly crippling. If the gender training was successful, we each ended up being half a person.
    Frank Pittman (20th century)
