Entertainment Tonight - Competition

Competition

Despite stiff competition from Access Hollywood, Extra, TMZ, its own "sister" program The Insider, Inside Edition, Showbiz Tonight, and E! News, Entertainment Tonight remains one of the top 10 highest-rated syndicated programs. As of the fall of 2007, its daytime TV rankings were fluctuating between fourth and fifth place due to competition from fellow CBS-syndicated program Judge Judy.

Famous quotes containing the word competition:

Competition has been shown to be useful up to a certain point and no further, but cooperation, which is the thing we must strive for today, begins where competition leaves off.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)

The elements of success in this business do not differ from the elements of success in any other. Competition is keen and bitter. Advertising is as large an element as in any other business, and since the usual avenues of successful exploitation are closed to the profession, the adage that the best advertisement is a pleased customer is doubly true for this business.
Madeleine [Blair], U.S. prostitute and “madam.” Madeleine, ch. 5 (1919)

Like many businessmen of genius he learned that free competition was wasteful, monopoly efficient. And so he simply set about achieving that efficient monopoly.
    Mario Puzo (b. 1920)
