Endonuclease - Common Endonucleases

Common Endonucleases

Restriction endonucleases (ENases) are most commonly produced by bacteria, and can be used to map a piece of DNA. ENases are widespread amongst prokaryotes (bacteria and archaea), but are produced by some eukaryotic organisms as well, although this is very rare.. Some endonucleases have actions on RNA, such as the Dicer enzyme, which initiates the formation of RNA-induced silencing complexes.

Famous quotes containing the word common:

Just as language has no longer anything in common with the thing it names, so the movements of most of the people who live in cities have lost their connexion with the earth; they hang, as it were, in the air, hover in all directions, and find no place where they can settle.
    Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926)
