Famous quotes containing the words conway, scenic and/or railroad:

Everybody gets pinched but you did it right. You told them nothing and they got nothing. You learned the two greatest things in life: Never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut.
Nicholas Pileggi, U.S. screenwriter, and Martin Scorsese. Jimmy Conway (Robert DeNiro)

    Hence from scenic bacchanal,
    Preshrunk and droll prodigal!
Smallness that you had to spend,
    Spent. Wench, whiskey and tail-end
    Of your overseas disease
Rot and rout you by degrees.
    Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)

Though the railroad and the telegraph have been established on the shores of Maine, the Indian still looks out from her interior mountains over all these to the sea.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
