Citizens Commission On Human Rights
The Citizens Commission on Human Rights International (CCHR) is a nonprofit organization whose stated mission is to "eradicate abuses committed under the guise of mental health and enact patient and consumer protections." It has been described by critics as a Scientology front group that campaigns against psychiatry and psychiatrists. It was established in 1969 by the Church of Scientology and psychiatrist Thomas Szasz, and is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
The organization holds that mental illness is not a medical disease, and that the use of psychiatric medication is a destructive and fraudulent practice. CCHR follows the Scientology doctrine that psychiatrists ('psychs') are the primary cause of evil in society:
In a 1969 article, "Today’s Terrorism," published in a Scientology journal, Hubbard claimed that "the psychiatrist and his front groups operate straight out of the terrorist textbooks. The Mafia looks like a convention of Sunday school teachers compared to these terrorist groups." The psychiatrist, Hubbard went on, "kidnaps, tortures and murders without any slightest police interference or action by western security forces." Later, Hubbard wrote that, in society, "there’s only one remedy for crime — get rid of the psychs! They are causing it!"
CCHR also blames psychiatry for school shootings, the 9/11 attacks on America, the German Holocaust, the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and the Jonestown massacre.

“As Jerome expanded, its chances for the title, the toughest little town in the West, increased and when it was incorporated in 1899 the citizens were able to support the claim by pointing to the number of thick stone shutters on the fronts of all saloons, gambling halls, and other places of business for protection against gunfire.”
—Administration in the State of Ariz, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
“A sense of humour keen enough to show a man his own absurdities as well as those of other people will keep a man from the commission of all sins, or nearly all, save those that are worth committing.”
—Samuel Butler (18351902)
“To me the sole hope of human salvation lies in teaching Man to regard himself as an experiment in the realization of God, to regard his hands as Gods hand, his brain as Gods brain, his purpose as Gods purpose. He must regard God as a helpless Longing, which longed him into existence by its desperate need for an executive organ.”
—George Bernard Shaw (18561950)
“It seemed like this was one big Prozac nation, one big mess of malaise. Perhaps the next time half a million people gather for a protest march on the White House green it will not be for abortion rights or gay liberation, but because were all so bummed out.”
—Elizabeth Wurtzel, U.S. author. Prozac Nation: Young and Depressed in America, p. 298, Houghton Mifflin (1994)
