Famous quotes containing the words characters in, characters, arc, lad and/or series:

No one of the characters in my novels has originated, so far as I know, in real life. If anything, the contrary was the case: persons playing a part in my life—the first twenty years of it—had about them something semi-fictitious.
    Elizabeth Bowen (1899–1973)

Animals are stylized characters in a kind of old saga—stylized because even the most acute of them have little leeway as they play out their parts.
    Edward Hoagland (b. 1932)

Male urination really is a kind of accomplishment, an arc of transcendance. A woman merely waters the ground she stands on.
    Camille Paglia (b. 1947)

That he would be successful in an original way, or that he would go to the dogs in an original way, seemed equally probable. The only absolute certainty about him was that he would not stand still in the circumstances amid which he was born.
    Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)

Rosalynn said, “Jimmy, if we could only get Prime Minister Begin and President Sadat up here on this mountain for a few days, I believe they might consider how they could prevent another war between their countries.” That gave me the idea, and a few weeks later, I invited both men to join me for a series of private talks. In September 1978, they both came to Camp David.
Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)
