Centillion - Short Scale

Short Scale

In areas using the short scale, such as Canada and the U.S., a centillion is 10303. It is formed on a pattern starting with a million: a million (1,000,000) has three zeroes more than a thousand (1,000); a billion (1,000,000,000) has two groups of three zeroes more than a thousand, and so on. A centillion has one hundred groups of three zeroes more than a thousand.

  • A centillion is a thousand times more than a novemnonagintillion.
  • A centillion is a thousandth of an uncentillion.

A centillion in the short-scale system is equivalent to a quinquagintilliard, or a thousand quinquagintillion, in the long-scale system.

Famous quotes containing the words short and/or scale:

It is while we are young that the habit of industry is formed. If not then, it never is afterwards. The fortune of our lives therefore depends on employing well the short period of our youth.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

The most perfect political community must be amongst those who are in the middle rank, and those states are best instituted wherein these are a larger and more respectable part, if possible, than both the other; or, if that cannot be, at least than either of them separate, so that being thrown into the balance it may prevent either scale from preponderating.
    Aristotle (384–322 B.C.)
