Capital Punishment In Indiana
As in any other state, people who are under 18 at the time of commission of the capital crime or mentally retarded are constitutionally precluded from being executed.
A total of 20 individuals convicted of murder have been executed by the state of Indiana in the United States since the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1977. Until 1995 electric chair was sole method of execution. Since 1995 only the method of lethal injection is allowed. The executions on this list, are of those executed by the state government of Indiana, and do not include persons executed within Indiana by the Federal Government.
