Blower Door - Uses of Blower-door Testing

Uses of Blower-door Testing

Blower doors can be used in a variety of types of testing. These include (but are not limited to):

  • Testing residential and commercial buildings for air tightness
  • Testing buildings for compliance with standards for energy efficiency, such as the IECC and ASHRAE.
  • Testing building envelopes and window frames for water tightness and rain penetration
  • NFPA Clean Agent Retention testing (this type of testing is usually described as a door fan test rather than a blower door test)
  • Duct leakage testing of forced air heating/cooling systems - both supply (vents) ducts and return ducts can be tested to determine if and how much they leak air.

Famous quotes containing the word testing:

Today so much rebellion is aimless and demoralizing precisely because children have no values to challenge. Teenage rebellion is a testing process in which young people try out various values in order to make them their own. But during those years of trial, error, embarrassment, a child needs family standards to fall back on, reliable habits of thought and feeling that provide security and protection.
