April Fools' Day Request For Comments

April Fools' Day Request For Comments

Almost every April Fools' Day (1 April) since 1989, the Internet Engineering Task Force has published one or more humorous Request for Comments (RFC) documents, following in the path blazed by the June 1973 RFC 527 called ARPAWOCKY, a parody of Lewis Carroll's nonsense poem "Jabberwocky". The following list also includes humorous RFCs published on other dates.

Famous quotes containing the words april, day, request and/or comments:

Such comfort as do lusty young men feel
When well-apparelled April on the heel
    Of limping winter treads.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Our fear that Communism might some day take over most of the world blinds us to the fact that anti-communism already has.
—Anonymous U.S. Analyst In 1967. Quoted in “The Uses of Anticommunism,” vol. 21, published in The Socialist Register (1985)

Were all the worshippers of the gold calf to memorialize me and request a restoration of the deposits I would cut my right hand from my body before I would do such an act. The gold calf may be worshipped by others but as for myself I serve the Lord.
    Andrew Jackson (1767–1845)

Rather would I have the love songs of romantic ages, rather Don Juan and Madame Venus, rather an elopement by ladder and rope on a moonlight night, followed by the father’s curse, mother’s moans, and the moral comments of neighbors, than correctness and propriety measured by yardsticks.
    Emma Goldman (1869–1940)
