Animal Welfare Act of 1966 - Public Relations

Public Relations

The USDA is committed to enforcing the AWA and conducting regular inspections. Animal care will perform inspections in response to public concerns for the conditions of regulated facilities. They encourage individuals to inform Animal care about unregulated facilities that may require licenses or registration. Many State and local governments have animal welfare laws of their own. The public is encouraged to work with State and local officials and local humane organizations as well as Federal officials to help reduce inhumane treatment of animals.

Animal care seeks to educate the public and create a cooperative relationship with licensed and registered entities, the animal protection community, and other Federal and State agencies. To accomplish this goal, Animal care conducts workshops regarding minimum care standards as outlined in the AWA.

Famous quotes containing the words public and/or relations:

But one day he met a man who was a whole lot badder,
And now he’s dead, and we ain’t none the sadder.
—Administration in the State of Texa, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

So soon did we, wayfarers, begin to learn that man’s life is rounded with the same few facts, the same simple relations everywhere, and it is vain to travel to find it new.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
