Andrei Linde - Creation of Matter in The Universe

Creation of Matter in The Universe

According to the inflationary theory, all elementary particles in the universe emerged after the end of inflation, in a process called reheating. The first version of the theory of reheating, which is essentially the theory of creation of matter in the universe, was developed in 1982 by Dolgov and Linde, and also by Abbott, Farhi and Wise. In 1994, this theory was revised by Kofman, Linde and Starobinsky. They have shown that the process of creation of matter after inflation may be much more efficient due to the effect of parametric resonance.

Famous quotes containing the words creation, matter and/or universe:

    If we admit a thing so extraordinary as the creation of this world, it should seem that we admit something strange, and odd, and new to human apprehension, beyond any other miracle whatsoever.
    George Berkeley (1685–1753)

    We found it at last, an’ a little shed
    Where they shut up the lamb at night.
    We looked in an’ seen them huddled thar,
    So warm an’ sleepy an’ white;
    An’ THAR sot Little Breeches an’ chirped,
    As peart as ever you see,
    “I wants a chaw of terbacky,
    An’ that’s what’s the matter of me.”
    John Milton Hay (1838–1905)

    Most men are like me. They cannot live in a universe where the most bizarre thought can in one second enter into the realm of reality—where, most often, it does enter, like a knife in a heart.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)
