Famous quotes containing the words posts, held and/or bar:
“Get posts and letters, and make friends with speed;
Never so few, and never yet more need.”
—William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
“It was a close place. I took it up, and held it in my hand. I was trembling, because I’d got to decide, forever, betwixt two things, and I knowed it. I studied a minute, sort of holding my breath, and then says to myself: “All right, then, I’ll go to hell”—and tore it up.”
—Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)
“Even the most incompetent English actor, coming on the stage briefly to announce the presence below of Lord and Lady Ditherege, gives forth a sound so soft and dulcet as almost to be a bar of music. But sometimes that is all there is. The words are lost in the graceful sweep of the notes.”
—Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
