Zom - Fictional Character Biography

Fictional Character Biography

Zom was created long ago for the purpose of destruction. Zom was imprisoned by several powerful magic users working together. He was fitted with a "crown of blindness" and "manacles of living bondage", and trapped inside a small amphora in another dimension by Eternity.

When faced with the unstoppable rage of the Hulk during "World War Hulk", Doctor Strange resorted to invoking Zom's essence into himself by drinking the contents of the amphora. In the following issue seven S.H.I.E.L.D.-employed mystics stated that he did channel Zom's powers, and he severely battered and damaged the Hulk, but began to lose control. He restrained Zom long enough for the Hulk to recover and knock him unconscious.

After Strange's defeat, the infernal entity resumed its mission to destroy the Earth dimension, and started by inhabiting Iron Man's discarded "hulkbuster" armor, to activate the latter's anti-matter doomsday device. Wong sought to recapture it into the urn, and was assisted by Hercules, Namora, the Angel, and Amadeus Cho. While it still proved too powerful to defeat, Amadeus managed to trick it into possessing his body, so the Angel could knock him out, and it was successfully resealed. Zom was referred to as severely depleted at the time.

During the assault of Amatsu-Mikaboshi on all of existence during the Chaos War storyline, Amatsu-Mikaboshi attacks Doctor Strange from behind, awakening the Zom part of Doctor Strange. Hiroim used his powers to try to exorcise Zom from Doctor Strange. Marlo Chandler later frees Strange from Zom.

Famous quotes containing the words fictional, character and/or biography:

It is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be.... This, in turn, means that our statesmen, our businessmen, our everyman must take on a science fictional way of thinking.
    Isaac Asimov (1920–1992)

We now demand the light artillery of the intellect; we need the curt, the condensed, the pointed, the readily diffused—in place of the verbose, the detailed, the voluminous, the inaccessible. On the other hand, the lightness of the artillery should not degenerate into pop-gunnery—by which term we may designate the character of the greater portion of the newspaper press—their sole legitimate object being the discussion of ephemeral matters in an ephemeral manner.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1845)

A biography is like a handshake down the years, that can become an arm-wrestle.
    Richard Holmes (b. 1945)
