Reward

On January 24, 2008, Clarence Prevost, the flight instructor who led authorities to Moussaoui, received a $5 million reward from the U.S. government. Famous quotes containing the word reward:

When I think of him, and his six sons, and his son-in-law, not to enumerate the others, enlisted for this fight, proceeding coolly, reverently, humanely to work, for months if not years, sleeping and waking upon it, summering and wintering the thought, without expecting any reward but a good conscience, while almost all America stood ranked on the other side,—I say again that it affects me as a sublime spectacle.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    I will reward thee
Once for thy sprightly comfort, and tenfold
    For thy good valor.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

It seemed pathetic and terrible to me and it still does, that men and women work eight hours a day at jobs that bring them no joy, no reward save a few dollars.
    Hortense Odlum (1892–?)
