Life
Chinen is the son of Takashi Chinen (born 1967), a Japanese former gymnast who won a bronze medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics. He is named after Yuri Osawa, an announcer, whose name his mother liked, but is written with different characters; the yu is a character often used in girl’s names (侑 yū) and the ri is taken from Li (李), a surname his mother thought common among Chinese gold medalist gymnasts.

Famous quotes containing the word life:
“Each work of art excludes the world, concentrates attention on itself. For the time it is the only thing worth doingto do just that; be it a sonnet, a statue, a landscape, an outline head of Caesar, or an oration. Presently we return to the sight of another that globes itself into a whole as did the first, for example, a beautiful garden; and nothing seems worth doing in life but laying out a garden.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“I smiled,
I waited,
I was circumspect;
O never, never, never write that I
missed life or loving.”
—Hilda Doolittle (18861961)
“What quarrel, what harshness, what unbelief in each other can subsist in the presence of a great calamity, when all the artificial vesture of our life is gone, and we are all one with each other in primitive mortal needs?”
—George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
