Language
The Yuki language is no longer spoken. It is related to the Wappo language, and both are Penutian languages. The Yuki people had a quaternary (4-based) counting system, based on counting the spaces between the fingers, rather than the fingers themselves.

Famous quotes containing the word language:
“Consensus is usually made possible by vague language and shallow commitments.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
“Denotation by means of sounds and markings is a remarkable abstraction. Three letters designate God for me; several lines a million things. How easy becomes the manipulation of the universe here, how evident the concentration of the intellectual world! Language is the dynamics of the spiritual realm. One word of command moves armies; the word liberty entire nations.”
—Novalis [Friedrich Von Hardenberg] (17721801)
“When youre lying awake with a dismal headache, and repose is
tabood by anxiety,
I conceive you may use any language you choose to indulge in without impropriety;”
—Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (18361911)
