Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni - Strikes

Strikes

Strikes have been a fairly continuous project at Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni, the most recent one was in July 2011, this was a one-day strike in a row over a cut in staff hours and an increase in class sizes. There is a following strike on November 30 of 2011 for the same objection.

Famous quotes containing the word strikes:

What is this flesh I purchased with my pains,
This fallen star my milk sustains,
This love that makes my heart’s blood stop
Or strikes a sudden chill into my bones
And bids my hair stand up?
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

What is line? It is life. A line must live at each point along its course in such a way that the artist’s presence makes itself felt above that of the model.... With the writer, line takes precedence over form and content. It runs through the words he assembles. It strikes a continuous note unperceived by ear or eye. It is, in a way, the soul’s style, and if the line ceases to have a life of its own, if it only describes an arabesque, the soul is missing and the writing dies.
    Jean Cocteau (1889–1963)

But he her fears to cease
    Sent down the meek-eyed Peace;
She, crowned with olive green, came softly sliding
    Down through the turning sphere,
    His ready harbinger,
With turtle wing the amorous clouds dividing,
And waving wide her myrtle wand,
She strikes a universal peace through sea and land.
    John Milton (1608–1674)
