You're History (song) - Background

Background

"You're History" is the first release to present Shakespears Sister as a duo between Siobhan Fahey and Marcella Detroit, as opposed to a solo project by Fahey. The single sleeve depicts the two seen from the back with Detroit wielding a guitar, however an early German pressing of the single used an alternate cover featuring only Fahey in a still from the official music video. Another alternate cover was used for the "Voodoo Remix" single, which was nearly identical to the cover most commonly used, other than Detroit's posture was different, and Fahey was facing her.

Upon release, "You're History" peaked at #7 on the UK Singles Chart, their first and only single to peak within the Top 10 until "Stay" topped the charts in 1992. The song also reached similar success internationally, and is widely considered their breakthrough hit.

Famous quotes containing the word background:

I had many problems in my conduct of the office being contrasted with President Kennedy’s conduct in the office, with my manner of dealing with things and his manner, with my accent and his accent, with my background and his background. He was a great public hero, and anything I did that someone didn’t approve of, they would always feel that President Kennedy wouldn’t have done that.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

Pilate with his question “What is truth?” is gladly trotted out these days as an advocate of Christ, so as to arouse the suspicion that everything known and knowable is an illusion and to erect the cross upon that gruesome background of the impossibility of knowledge.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

... every experience in life enriches one’s background and should teach valuable lessons.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)
