You'll Lose A Good Thing

"You'll Lose a Good Thing" is a popular song written by rhythm and blues artist Barbara Lynn Ozen, who, performing as Barbara Lynn, scored a 1962 Top 10 hit, and also the number 1 spot on the R&B charts, with her bluesy rendition of the song.

Freddy Fender retained those bluesy, soulful elements when he recorded a country version of the song in 1975. In April 1976, the song became his fourth No. 1 song on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart.

The song was also recorded by Aretha Franklin and released on her Runnin' Out of Fools album in 1964.

Barbara Lynn's recording featured in the film Hairspray.

Famous quotes containing the word lose:

At the heart of all beauty lies something inhuman, and these hills, the softness of the sky, the outline of these trees at this very minute lose the illusory meaning with which we had clothed them, henceforth more remote than a lost paradise ... that denseness and that strangeness of the world is absurd.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)
