Album Cover
The album sleeve was designed by Mark Farrow and Pet Shop Boys. The tick on the cover is made up of eleven coloured squares. It was inspired by German artist Gerhard Richter (who is referenced in the album's opening track, "Love etc."), specifically his 4900 exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery and the stained glass window in Cologne Cathedral.
The album's cover was nominated in the 2010 Brit Insurance Design Awards shortlist in the Graphics category.

Famous quotes containing the words album and/or cover:
“What a long strange trip its been.”
—Robert Hunter, U.S. rock lyricist. Truckin, on the Grateful Dead album American Beauty (1971)
“There is nothing more poetic and terrible than the skyscrapers battle with the heavens that cover them. Snow, rain, and mist highlight, drench, or conceal the vast towers, but those towers, hostile to mystery and blind to any sort of play, shear off the rains tresses and shine their three thousand swords through the soft swan of the fog.”
—Federico García Lorca (18981936)
