The yellow-spotted rock hyrax or bush hyrax (Heterohyrax brucei) is a species of mammal in the family Procaviidae. It is found in Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Southern Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Somalia, Northern South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Unlike the rock hyrax, it is not found outside of Africa. Its natural habitats are dry savanna and rocky areas.
It is currently the only species in the genus Heterohyrax. However, there are 25 distinct subspecies.
It feeds on small grasses, herbage, leaves, fruit, insects, lizards, and birds' eggs.
