Yarroweyah Football Club

The Yarroweyah Football Club, nicknamed the Hoppers, is an Australian Rules Football club playing in the Picola & District Football League. The club is based in the small town of Yarroweyah, Victoria.

A Yarroweyah Football Club competed in the Murray Border Football Association between 1893 and 1901, and football was certainly being played in the town prior to that, but the current club of that name was not born until 1955, commencing in the Picola & District Football League - the competition it still calls home to this day - the following year.

Famous quotes containing the words football and/or club:

People stress the violence. That’s the smallest part of it. Football is brutal only from a distance. In the middle of it there’s a calm, a tranquility. The players accept pain. There’s a sense of order even at the end of a running play with bodies stewn everywhere. When the systems interlock, there’s a satisfaction to the game that can’t be duplicated. There’s a harmony.
    Don Delillo (b. 1926)

Please accept my resignation. I don’t care to belong to any club that will have me as a member.
    Groucho Marx (1895–1977)
