The Yallourn railway line was a broad gauge branch railway from the main Gippsland line in Victoria, Australia. Operated by the Victorian Railways and successors, the line served the State Electricity Commission of Victoria operated Yallourn Power Station, open cut mine, and briquette factory complex; as well as the adjacent company town of Yallourn. The line is now part of the Moe to Yallourn Rail Trail.

Famous quotes containing the words railway and/or line:
“Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understandmy mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arms length.”
—Angela Carter (19401992)
“It is a great many years since at the outset of my career I had to think seriously what life had to offer that was worth having. I came to the conclusion that the chief good for me was freedom to learn, think, and say what I pleased, when I pleased. I have acted on that conviction... and though strongly, and perhaps wisely, warned that I should probably come to grief, I am entirely satisfied with the results of the line of action I have adopted.”
—Thomas Henry Huxley (182595)
