Line Construction
Tunnel construction between stations will use the shield-tunneling method, while other construction (stations, crossover track, etc.) will use the cut-and-cover method.
The Xinyi Line construction progress is, as of May 2012, 83.29% complete. Upon completion, it will take 11 minutes to travel from the Taipei 101/World Trade Center to Taipei Main Station. A common utility duct was constructed along with the line, saving NT$44.64 million in the process. Following completion of the line, dedicated bus lanes will be moved back towards the center of the road.
A planned extension of the line will extend the line east along Xinyi Rd. and Fude Rd. to Zhongpo South Rd., and end at Yucheng Park. It will add 2 stations and 1.6 km (0.99 mi) of additional route length. The final corridor was approved on February 12, 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words line and/or construction:
“A modern democracy is a tyranny whose borders are undefined; one discovers how far one can go only by traveling in a straight line until one is stopped.”
—Norman Mailer (b. 1923)
“No real vital character in fiction is altogether a conscious construction of the author. On the contrary, it may be a sort of parasitic growth upon the authors personality, developing by internal necessity as much as by external addition.”
—T.S. (Thomas Stearns)
