Early Paintings

Tar and bullet paintings, hair paintings, and various mudworks were exhibited at the Satellite Gallery in Downtown LA in 1986. He also did portraits of serial killer Richard Ramirez.

In July 1991, the Los Angeles Times published an editorial about the 'death' of the Downtown Los Angeles loft/art scene and commented on his burgeoning series of misanthropic works.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or paintings:

The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring. I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

All photographs are there to remind us of what we forget. In this—as in other ways—they are the opposite of paintings. Paintings record what the painter remembers. Because each one of us forgets different things, a photo more than a painting may change its meaning according to who is looking at it.
    John Berger (b. 1926)
