WWF Superstars is a video game released on the Game Boy handheld console by LJN, based on WWE's old syndicated television show of the same name. This game was the first WWF/E game for the Game Boy system.
The game was succeeded by WWF Superstars 2, which was released in 1992 by Acclaim Entertainment. An unique engine was built from the ground up; the developers never attempted to emulate the gaming engine found in the more advanced WWF games.

Famous quotes containing the word video:
“It is among the ranks of school-age children, those six- to twelve-year-olds who once avidly filled their free moments with childhood play, that the greatest change is evident. In the place of traditional, sometimes ancient childhood games that were still popular a generation ago, in the place of fantasy and make- believe play . . . todays children have substituted television viewing and, most recently, video games.”
—Marie Winn (20th century)
