Early Days: LJN
With the rise in popularity that the wrestling industry experienced during 1980s, WWE contracted LJN to produce the first wrestling action figures in 1984. These figures were made of solid rubber and were very accurate in appearance to their real life counterparts, however they did not have any articulation. The figures stood at 8" tall. In 1989 LJN closed its toy division, and the WWE contract was awarded to Hasbro.

Famous quotes containing the word early:
“In the early forties and fifties almost everybody had about enough to live on, and young ladies dressed well on a hundred dollars a year. The daughters of the richest man in Boston were dressed with scrupulous plainness, and the wife and mother owned one brocade, which did service for several years. Display was considered vulgar. Now, alas! only Queen Victoria dares to go shabby.”
