Garden
The botanic garden covers 38 acres (154,000 m²) near the town of Avalon on Catalina, off the shore from Los Angeles, California, USA. The garden places a special emphasis on California island endemic plants, i.e., plants that grow naturally on one or more of the Channel Islands of California but nowhere else in the world.

Famous quotes containing the word garden:
“In a coign of the cliff between lowland and highland,
At the sea-downs edge between windward and lee,
Walled round with rocks as an inland island,
The ghost of a garden fronts the sea.”

“The city mouse lives in a house;
The garden mouse lives in a bower,”
—Christina Georgina Rossetti (18301894)
“He would declare and could himself believe
That the birds there in all the garden round
From having heard the daylong voice of Eve
Had added to their own an oversound,
Her tone of meaning but without the words.”
