On release, Famicom Tsūshin scored the Game Boy version of the game a 24 out of 40, giving the Neo Geo version a 26 out of 40. Electronic Gaming Monthly gave the Neo Geo version an 8.25 out of ten, and it also received EGM's "Game of the Month" award in magazine issue #60.
