Work Engagement - Trait Versus State Work Engagement

Trait Versus State Work Engagement

Generally, work engagement is conceptualized as a relatively stable phenomenon. This can be explained by the presence of specific job and organizational characteristics. However, engagement is not a fixed state: the level of engagement can even fluctuate on a weekly or day-to-day basis. Increasingly, attention is being paid to these short-term fluctuations by conducting experience sampling studies and diary studies.

Famous quotes containing the words trait, state, work and/or engagement:

Clemency is the noblest trait which can reveal a true monarch to the world.
    Pierre Corneille (1606–1684)

I see the state of all of us who live, nothing more than phantoms or a weightless shadow.
    Sophocles (497–406/5 B.C.)

But he had gone his way, the grass all mown,
And I must be, as he had been,—alone,

‘As all must be,’ I said within my heart,
‘Whether they work together or apart.’
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

Pardon me, you are not engaged to any one. When you do become engaged to some one, I, or your father, should his health permit him, will inform you of the fact. An engagement should come on a young girl as a surprise, pleasant or unpleasant, as the case may be. It is hardly a matter that she could be allowed to arrange for herself.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
