The WLC works in several areas, their main aims being:

  • To strengthen unity amongst Chin women.
  • To improve the status of women in the Chin community.
  • To promote democracy, freedom, peace and human rights in Burma.
  • To create more opportunities for women's participation in social and political activities.
  • To aid the strengthening of genuine solidarity within the Chin nation.
  • To prioritise women's education, healthcare and social welfare.
  • To strengthen coalitions with other national and international women's organizations.
  • To preserve Chin culture, traditions and literature.

To achieve these objectives, the WLC has various projects including training programs, internships, and workshops on topics such as women’s reproductive health, income generation, basic human rights, gender equality and counselling skills for female victims of domestic violence.

The organization has also recently started a volunteer programme, allowing volunteers from overseas to stay and work in their offices in Aizawl, Mizoram. Additionally, WLC welcomes any groups of people or organizations that are willing to organise a training program or workshop on the Indian-Burmese border or in New Delhi.

Famous quotes containing the words objectives and/or activities:

Along the journey we commonly forget its goal. Almost every vocation is chosen and entered upon as a means to a purpose but is ultimately continued as a final purpose in itself. Forgetting our objectives is the most frequent stupidity in which we indulge ourselves.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

Justice begins with the recognition of the necessity of sharing. The oldest law is that which regulates it, and this is still the most important law today and, as such, has remained the basic concern of all movements which have at heart the community of human activities and of human existence in general.
    Elias Canetti (b. 1905)
