Public Response
In December 2012, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked Natan Sharansky, the leader of the Jewish Agency for Israel, to review the situation and suggest ways of making prayer at the Kotel more accessible to all. In response to the detentions at the wall in February 2013, Sharansky said “When I listen to the very partial presentation, I am fully with them — when I listen to the other side, I have to accept that they also have logic. We do have to find a solution in which nobody will feel discriminated against."
The arrests have been criticized by groups promoting religious pluralism in Israel. The Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR), condemned the arrest of Anat Hoffman and called it a "desecration of God's name."

Famous quotes containing the words public and/or response:
“What arouses the indignation of the honest satirist is not, unless the man is a prig, the fact that people in positions of power or influence behave idiotically, or even that they behave wickedly. It is that they conspire successfully to impose upon the public a picture of themselves as so very sagacious, honest and well-intentioned.”
—Claud Cockburn (19041981)
“There are situations in life to which the only satisfactory response is a physically violent one. If you dont make that response, you continually relive the unresolved situation over and over in your life.”
—Russell Hoban (b. 1925)
