Top Cow Universe
The Top Cow universe is full of realism and mysticism. It combines elements of science fiction (aliens, mutants, etc.) and supernatural (gods, magic, monsters, afterlife, etc.). Superheroes are generally enhanced humans from secret government or private entrepreneurial projects. The Catholic Church is a source of divine hypocrisy and human malevolence with both political and economic ambitions. Sara Pezzini's old precinct, the 18th, or "the One Eight" is in the roughest part of New York, where crime is rampant, and both the Mafia and the Yakuza are prominent forces.
