Split
On Wednesday 3 January 2007, all information and features on Winterville's official website were removed and replaced with a single page displaying the following message:
We are very sorry to announce that Winterville have split up, and all future shows have been cancelled. Many thanks to all of you who have supported us over the past 3 years.
— Peter, Joss & Mario, Wintervilleonline.com
The split was extremely sudden and the reason is still unknown amongst fans. The band were in the process of working on material for their second album.
Singer and guitarist Peter Shoulder had been working on solo material, demos of which are available on his MySpace page, but has since formed the band The Union with former rock band Thunder co-songwriter and lead guitarist, Luke Morley.
Drummer Mario Goossens went back to Belgium and became successful as drummer of Triggerfinger. He even was elected "Best Musician" in 2011 on the Belgian Music Industry Awards by artist and press. This award is very uncommon for a drummer. Goossens already played in Hooverphonic and the Flemish bands Noordkaap and Monza (band). He also produced the first album of The Blackbox Revelation, "Set Your Head on Fire", two albums of the post-metal/sludge metal band Steak Number Eight and also the self-titled debut of the indie band Team William. All three bands finished in the top three of Humo's Rock Rally, the most prestigious rock talent contest in Flanders. Mario Goossens was a member of the jury of this competition in 2010.

Famous quotes containing the word split:
“Hunger makes you restless. You dream about foodnot just any food, but perfect food, the best food, magical meals, famous and awe-inspiring, the one piece of meat, the exact taste of buttery corn, tomatoes so ripe they split and sweeten the air, beans so crisp they snap between the teeth, gravy like mothers milk singing to your bloodstream.”
—Dorothy Allison (b. 1953)
“What would happen if one woman told the truth about her life?
The world would split open”
—Muriel Rukeyser (19131980)
“Some people ... cant see the country for the money in their pockets. They think their state is the country, or the way they live is the country. And theyre willing to split the country because of it.”
—Dan Totheroh (18951976)
