Parent Involvement
Parents are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s educational experience at Winters Mill. Three parents have been serving on the instructional leadership team and have helped develop the instructional programs. Additionally, three parent organizations are needed to support Winters Mill:
1. The PTSA (parent, teacher, student association) supports and promotes the entire school.
2. The athletic boosters work with the total athletic program.
3. The music boosters supports marching band activities and other instrumental and choral groups.

Famous quotes containing the words parent and/or involvement:
“One of the most difficult aspects of being a parent during the middle years is feeling powerless to protect our children from hurt. However growthful it may be for them to experience failure, disappointment and rejection, it is nearly impossible to maintain an intellectual perspective when our sobbing child or rageful child comes in to us for help. . . . We cant turn the hurt around by kissing the sore spot to make it better. We are no longer the all-powerful parent.”
—Ruth Davidson Bell (20th century)
“The glorious dream of full father involvement in infant care will not become a widespread reality overnight. But it can happen, and it eventually will happen,... A lot of progress may take place in a short period of time if we just lighten up, step back, and give the guys a decent chance.”
—Michael K. Meyerhoff (20th century)
