Nicole Prescovia Elikolani Valiente Scherzinger ( /niˈkoʊl ˈʃɜrzɪŋər/ ni-KOHL SHUR-zing-ər; born June 29, 1978) is an American recording artist, and television personality. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and performing in singing and dancing competitions as a child, she began her music career as a member of Eden's Crush, which in 2003 she was relocated to join Pussycat Dolls, one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. Scherzinger's debut solo single "Baby Love" (2007), released during the group's hiatus, established the singer as a viable solo artist worldwide, launching her into the media spotlight. Scherzinger was later featured on A.R. Rahman's critically acclaimed single "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" (2009), which topped charts in over 18 countries.

Following the disbandment of Pussycat Dolls in 2010, Scherzinger's debut solo album Killer Love (2011) became one of the most successful albums of that year by a female artist and spawned two of her biggest hits: "Don't Hold Your Breath" and "Right There". Scherzinger's currently untitled second album is to be released in November 2013, and is preceded by its lead single "Boomerang" another top ten hit. She also served as a judge during the first and ninth season of the American and British version of The X Factor.

Since the beginning of her career in 1999, Scherzinger has sold 60 million records worldwide. In 2009, Billboard ranked her, along with The Pussycat Dolls, as one of the top ten most successful musical acts of the 2000s. In 2011, Rolling Stone ranked Scherzinger the ninth best dancing musician. She also appeared on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Women in Music" in 2012 and was ranked eighth "Sexiest Artist of All Time" in 2013. In 2013, Scherzinger was The Harvard Foundation's "Artist of the Year". Scherzinger's work has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including two MTV Music Video Awards, three Billboard Music Awards and a Cosmopolitan Award.

Scherzinger also had her debut tour in many venues around Europe in February 2012. As of 2008, Scherzinger has been in a relationship with Lewis Hamilton. Scherzinger has since endorsed such brands as Estée Lauder, Nike, Herbal Essences, Müller, La Senza, Bebe Stores, London Fog, Beats By Dr Dre and many more.

Famous quotes containing the words winning and/or women:

You with a bad coin in your socket,
You my friend there with a winning air
Who palmed the lie on me when you looked
Brassily at my shyest secret ...
    Dylan Thomas (1914–1953)

It is not however, adulthood itself, but parenthood that forms the glass shroud of memory. For there is an interesting quirk in the memory of women. At 30, women see their adolescence quite clearly. At 30 a woman’s adolescence remains a facet fitting into her current self.... At 40, however, memories of adolescence are blurred. Women of this age look much more to their earlier childhood for memories of themselves and of their mothers. This links up to her typical parenting phase.
