Technical Issues
The very first edition of the new Winning Streak - Dream Ticket was broadcast on Saturday 13 September 2008. It was marred by a technical problem on RTÉ One, when after the first half of the show was broadcast and a commercial break was taken, the show returned to a repeat of the first, and not the second, half. RTÉ One replayed the whole of the first half again and forgot about the second half.
The mistake was only noticed a few minutes before the start of the Saturday main evening news at 21:10. The replay of the first half stopped and a commercial break was brought in. After the break, an announcer apologised for the technical problem and the main news started at 21:10. At 21:40 RTÉ One played the second part resulting in the scheduled live People of the Year Awards 2008 being postponed by around 20 minutes. Intriguingly, the show is still available in its repeated format online.
