Trail Outline
The trail is approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) (return) in length and is mostly a steady upward climb, rising over 350 metres (1,150 ft) to the peak of Wilkie Sugar Loaf Mountain. The trail offers two different mountain top look-offs.
The south-western look-off presents views toward the Pollets Cove-Aspy Fault Wilderness Area, the Aspy Fault plateau and Aspy Fault to the west, the plateau of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park in the distance to the south, as well as Aspy Harbour, the beach at Cabots Landing and the villages of Cape North and Dingwall to the south and east.
The northern look-off presents a view of the hills to the north and to the hamlets of Bay St. Lawrence and St. Margaret Village, the Bay St. Lawrence and the open Gulf of St. Lawrence beyond. On a very clear day it is possible to see the 115 kilometres (71 mi) across the Cabot Strait to Newfoundland to the north-east.
