Famous quotes containing the words wilhelm von, wilhelm and/or von:

Wherever the citizen becomes indifferent to his fellows, so will the husband be to his wife, and the father of a family toward the members of his household.
    —Karl Wilhelm Von Humboldt (1767–1835)

Whatever happens, every individual is a child of his time; so philosophy too is its own time apprehended in thoughts. It is just as absurd to fancy that a philosophy can transcend its contemporary world as it is to fancy that an individual can overleap his own age, jump over Rhodes.
    —Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)

So divinely is the world organized that every one of us, in our place and time, is in balance with everything else.
    —Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749–1832)
