Live Performances

"Who You Are" was first performed live at the band's September 14, 1996 concert in Seattle, Washington at The Showbox. Following Irons' departure from the band in 1998 the song was dropped from set lists. "Who You Are" finally made a return appearance at the band's June 11, 2008 concert in West Palm Beach, Florida at the Cruzan Amphitheatre. The song has since returned to Pearl Jam set lists. Famous quotes containing the words live and/or performances:

... we engage in politics because we don’t know anything. This is clearly revealed in the way we go about it. Our parties exist from a fear of theory. The voter fears that one idea can always be contradicted by another. Therefore the parties reciprocally defend themselves against the few old ideas they have inherited. They don’t live from what they promise, but from frustrating the promises of others. This is their silent community of interests.
    Robert Musil (1880–1942)

At one of the later performances you asked why they called it a “miracle,”
Since nothing ever happened. That, of course, was the miracle
But you wanted to know why so much action took on so much life
And still managed to remain itself, aloof, smiling and courteous.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)
