Whitton railway station is in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, in south London, and is in Travelcard Zone 5. The station and all trains serving it are operated by South West Trains. The ticket office is staffed 7 days a week during the day time. There are no ticket barriers or gates, but there are two Oyster card readers near the ticket office. The platforms have recently (February 2012) been extended from 8 coach length to 10 coach length, although the eastern ends are not in use, as the longest trains are 8 coaches. A coffee shop opened during 2007 on the London bound platform 1, but closed in 2009, although another named Café Elite opened in 2011.
