When I'm Alone I Cry is the third studio album by Marvin Gaye, released in 1964. It was one of several attempts of the singer to make a name for himself as a jazz vocalist.
After When I'm Alone I Cry was unsuccessful upon its release, Gaye finally balked under pressure to record more R&B and soul material. By the end of the decade he had become one of the best-selling and most revered soul artists of his generation.

Famous quotes containing the word cry:
“Wind goes from farm to farm in wave on wave,
But carries no cry of what is hoped to be.
There may be little or much beyond the grave,
But the strong are saying nothing until they see.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
