Fire
On October 22, 2007 the school was surrounded by the "Magic" fire. The fire did not get any closer than the gates and the hills bordering the school. The school was already closed that Monday due to the fire risk, however the school was closed for an extra day due to unhealthy air conditions. Famous quotes containing the word fire:
“Gradually I regained my usual composure. I reread Pale Fire more carefully. I liked it better when expecting less. And what was that? What was that dim distant music, those vestiges of color in the air? Here and there I discovered in it and especially, especially in the invaluable variants, echoes and spangles of my mind, a long ripplewake of my glory.”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
“These violent delights have violent ends,
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which as they kiss consume.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Can fire be carried in the bosom without burning ones clothes? Or can one walk on hot coals without scorching the feet? So is he who sleeps with his neighbors wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.”
—Bible: Hebrew, Proverbs 6:27-29.
