African Village & Lemur Woods
- African Village
The African Village is an interactive walk-through area, allowing visitors to see African village wildlife and a replica African Village Home. The African Village contains a walk-through area containing Cameroon Sheep, Pygmy Goats and Somali Sheep. The exhibit also contains an extensive Meerkat exhibit, containing a large mob of meerkats.
- Lemur Woods
In the wooded area towards the rear of the amusement park can be found the largest walk-through lemur exhibit in the UK. The lemurs are free to roam around the walkway and the woods, making this an interactive experience for visitors. There are three species of lemur on display in the woods:
- Red-Bellied Lemur
- Ring-Tailed Lemur
- White-Headed Lemur

Famous quotes containing the words african, village and/or woods:
“A tanned skin is something more than respectable, and perhaps olive is a fitter color than white for a man,a denizen of the woods. The pale white man! I do not wonder that the African pitied him.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“While yet it is cold January, and snow and ice are thick and solid, the prudent landlord comes from the village to get ice to cool his summer drink; impressively, even pathetically, wise, to foresee the heat and thirst of July now in January, wearing a thick coat and mittens! when so many things are not provided for. It may be that he lays up no treasures in this world which will cool his summer drink in the next.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Suddenly he found he had pressed the spring of the grenade. He struggled to pull it out of his pocket. It stuck in the narrow pocket. His arm and his cold fingers that clutched the grenade seemed paralyzed. Then a warm joy went through him. He had thrown it.
Anderson was standing up, swaying backwards and forwards. The explosion made the woods quake.”
—John Dos Passos (18961970)
