Academics

Wesleyan Academy is a private, English language, evangelical school providing a Pre-Pre Kinder through Twelfth grade college preparatory program. The school was founded in 1955 by the Wesleyan World Mission.

WA is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA), licensed by the Department of Education of Puerto Rico, and a member of the following: Caribbean Association of Independent Schools, Junior National Honor Society, National Honor Society, PR High School Athletic Alliance, National Association of Secondary School Principals, Asociación de Escuelas Privadas de PR, and Caribbean Counselors Association.

The academy offers a variety of curricular and co-curricular activities. Every year a handful of our students also attend the Presidential Classroom in Washington, D.C.

The guidance department, consists of a social worker, guidance counselors and spiritual life coordinators, and offers orientation and counseling services to all the academy’s students. Information on universities and colleges is available.

Students take the PSAT in both their 10th and 11th, consistently scoring above local and stateside scores on the CEB and SAT exams. All WA graduates continue their studies at stateside or local universities, many with full scholarships

Famous quotes containing the word academics:

Almost all scholarly research carries practical and political implications. Better that we should spell these out ourselves than leave that task to people with a vested interest in stressing only some of the implications and falsifying others. The idea that academics should remain “above the fray” only gives ideologues license to misuse our work.
    Stephanie Coontz (b. 1944)

Our first line of defense in raising children with values is modeling good behavior ourselves. This is critical. How will our kids learn tolerance for others if our hearts are filled with hate? Learn compassion if we are indifferent? Perceive academics as important if soccer practice is a higher priority than homework?
    Fred G. Gosman (20th century)
