Wentworth Park MLR Station

Wentworth Park MLR Station

Wentworth Park is a light rail stop located in the suburb of Pyrmont, on the Metro Light Rail line in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The stop has two platforms, one for services to Lilyfield, the other for services to Central. The stop is named after the park on the opposite side of Wattle Street and the Wentworth Park Racecourse greyhound racing track.

The stop is located on the former Darling Harbour branch of the Metropolitan Goods railway line and was the original terminus of the MLR line when it opened with a single platform in 1997. On 13 August 2000, the MLR was extended along the disused section of goods line to Lilyfield and the second platform, for Lilyfield bound services, was opened. A crossover remains just past the city end of the platform.

Famous quotes containing the words park and/or station:

Is a park any better than a coal mine? What’s a mountain got that a slag pile hasn’t? What would you rather have in your garden—an almond tree or an oil well?
    Jean Giraudoux (1882–1944)

It was evident that the same foolish respect was not here claimed for mere wealth and station that is in many parts of New England; yet some of them were the “first people,” as they are called, of the various towns through which we passed.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
