Weeley railway station serves the village of Weeley in Essex, England. It is located on the Sunshine Coast Line, a railway operated by Greater Anglia (the brand name of London Eastern Railway Ltd) that links Colchester to Clacton-on-Sea.
There is one train to Colchester and one to Walton-on-the-Naze each hour, 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday only)
The station was opened on 8 January 1866 by the Tendring Hundred Extension Railway, a subsidiary of the Great Eastern Railway.
The original station house is almost derelict but is available to let. The original level crossing beside the station was replaced by a flyover (from which the photograph was taken) as part of the first Weeley by-pass in the 1930s.
During 2011, the station received a minor facelift, which included the addition of a disabled entry ramp with hand rails, updated warning signs and a cleanup.
Due to its low usage, the station is closed on Sundays and all trains pass through without stopping.

Famous quotes containing the words railway and/or station:
“Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understandmy mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arms length.”
—Angela Carter (19401992)
“...I believe it is now the duty of the slaves of the South to rebuke their masters for their robbery, oppression and crime.... No station or character can destroy individual responsibility, in the matter of reproving sin.”
—Angelina Grimké (18051879)
